How long does rice usually cook for in the oven?
Answers: Sorry Everybody!
I cook rice in the oven all the time and it works out great!
Boil the amount of water you need plus some extra. Pour rice in a casserole pan or 9 X 13 cake pan and add enough water to give you a 1 part rice to 2 1/2 parts boiling water and pour into the pan together. Cover tightly with alluminum foil and bake at 375 in your oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour. It does work and takes longer than in a rice cooker or on the stove top but, yes, you can cook rice in the oven.

Unless you are putting rice in a casserole it should be cooked on stovetop in covered kettle about 30 minutes.
In casserole in oven covered with foil tightly I cook it an hour.
That is the long grain regular rices. As a pilaf, 20-30 minutes. you dont use oven to cook rice. you can make rice into a rice cooker . if you dont got one then you can go to the store and buy one yourself . you can find rice cooker at large department stores sell them. it is not advisable to do that since oven is not designed to be used for that purpose....thats why we have rice cookers or cooking pots where we can cook the rice.
perhaps it is possible on the other hand however you would not get the desired resullt or rather rice would not be as good as when it is cooked on a pot or rice cooker.
the span of time will vary depending on the heat level of the oven sorry to break it to you, but you use the stove, not the oven, to cook rice.
you boil the water first and add salt if you wanna add a little flavor, then, when the water comes to a boil, you pour in the rice and remove the cooking pot from the heat.
make sure to follow the according amounts of water and rice to put it ( they should be on the box)
also, when you put the rice in and move the cooking pot away from heat, be sure to cover the pot with the cover .
: ) It can vary depending on what you're cooking with it. Here's my favorite easy one dish meal. It's baked at 375 F for 45 minutes.
http://www.campbellkitchen.com/recipedet... Cook the rice the following way:
take a pot. Fill in two cups of water for one cup of rice and one extra cup for the pot. 1 teaspoon of salt. If you are rich spice with some cloves. Let it boil softly for about 20 minutes. Taste it at the end. If you like it, take a strainer and let the water go away. Put the rice in a bowl and microwave it for about 11/2 minute. So I do mine.

Heinz If your making a dish like chicken & rice it takes about an hour and you should cover the dish with foil while it cooks. Otherwise use a rice cooker or cook the rice on the stove....the directions are on the package.
