Question:

Whats a good substitution for molasses?

i want to make some spice cookies but every recipe calls for molasses! i dont have any. whats a good substitution? or should i not substitute it at all?

Answers: Molasses Substitute

For 1 cup, use 1 cup honey;
or

3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar;
or

1 cup dark corn syrup;
or

1 cup pure maple syrup. in order of preference .. treacle, golden syrup, sugar All spice , nutmeg, cloves, Go to the store, really there is none. I'd try Karo syrup. Sorghum. Replace one cup molasses with 3/4 cup packed (dark, if you have it) brown sugar dissolved in 1/4 cup of liquid. (Whatever liquid you're using in the recipe, usually water.)
This one is my favorite, the flavors are quite close.

Replace one cup molasses with one cup dark corn syrup.

Replace one cup molasses with one cup honey. table syrup & brown sugar mixed.....
honey & brown sugar mixed.... golden syrup, treacle, but if it calls for molasses, it's probably cest that you use it, it does have it's own flavour brown sugar will do in a pinch.
