Can I freeze shaved deli ham?!

Question:

Can I freeze shaved deli ham?

Sam's Club. UGH!

I need to know if I can freeze the gazzilion pounds of deli ham that my husband bought. There's no way we're consuming that much ham before it spoils.

What's the purpose of adding salt?

What's the purpose of adding salt? Yes, it is completely safe to freeze. I buy tons of deli meat when its on sale. I freeze it into smaller zip lock bags or sandwich bags for smaller portions. I manage a full service restaraunt and have extensive culinary skills. Freeze it. It will be fine. I do, but when parcelling it up to freeze: squeeze all the air out and add a pinch of salt before sealing the packs .. defrost right at the last minute .. it will only keep for about 4-6 months maximum after that it looses its flavour Yes it can be frozen.
The defrosted ham will be watery when defrosted due to the water content of the ham.
It will not affect the taste just pat dry. You can. And deli ham, unlike the others doesn't have preservatives. So it will spoil faster.
Put it in a weeks worth of bags before freezing to make it easier to take out. i wouldnt suggest it after it thaws it will be all mushy and slimy...trust me i work in a deli
