Death from cookies?!
Death from cookies?
I ate some of those Safeway break and bake cookies raw. Could I get sal monella? On the back it does say eggs, but have the eggs been treated for no sal monella or something like that?
Answers: Most commercially prepared cookie doughs, etc. use eggs that are pasteurized, so salmonella shouldn't be an issue. If you had prepared the dough yourself, it's more of a risk, but even that would be a very, very small risk.
Don't give it another thought, and hope you enjoyed your snack!! i dont think anything will happen to you ! no you can't might. i don't really know, but it's salmonella. no likley but ur cholestoral is gunna be way up there..
but those cookies r good anyways lol I think you are okay if you are on YAHOO :) if the egg is already cooked, then you will not get sal monella.
please don't wurry about it Don't worry a lot of people eat raw cookie dough sounds nasty but they do, No you won't leave Earth because of it, Death is not standing at your Door so rest at ease! probably not there is all kinds of people who eat raw dough my kids eat the raw cookie doe from those all the time! nothing ever happens just be careful 2 not eat the whole pack at once! that might make u sick........(but maybe not anything seriouse!) I'm pretty sure those don't have eggs in them, but even if they do, you could get it though its HIGHLY unlikely I don't think so I eat raw cookie dough all the time and i am still alive Well the odds are about 1 in 10,000,000 that a bad egg might have slipped thru. If it has about all that will happen is you will get a nice tummy ache. Are you too inoatient to wait until the cookies are baked? I just ate raw cookie dough today! Sooo good, I'd rather eat it raw!
Anyway, technically it does have raw eggs so it could give you salmonella but the chance is slim to none. I have been eating raw eggs in my moms cake batter since i was a kid and never got sick. Eating raw cookie dough is dangerous, but it is seldom deadly........
I'm sure that the next time you happen to see a doctor, ask him about the dangers of eating raw cookie dough, you'll be surprised at what you learn....... If the cookie dough that you are consuming has raw eggs in it, than there is some risk. If you are referring to a commercial product like ice cream that contains cookie dough, you can rest assured that the eggs that are used in that dough is made safe through a process known as pasteurization.
Whether your specific brand contains pasteurized eggs or not is a question that may be answered on the package or on the manufacturer's website.
As this isn't a product which "contains" cookie dough (designed to be eaten raw), but just "is" cookie dough (designed to be eaten cooked) I would say that this is going to give you a risk of salmonella poisoning if eaten raw.
And for those people who say just go for it and take Pepto if you get salmonella, do you REALLY want to have abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and fever? Doesn't sound like fun to me.
I suggest you make the Safe To Eat dough from the recipe in the second link below: nothings gonna happen becuz even those people who make cookies from scratch use real eggs and their kids eat the dough raw. that's the whole point of making the cookie dough, so you won't get sick..........silly goose! It's never a good idea to do that. Contamination of the package during handling is always a possibility and some contaminants aren't all that obvious when one opens the package. Anything with eggs as part of the mix is an especially good growth medium for a wide variety of harmful bacteria. You experience salmonella poisoning, you won't want to do it twice - if you survive the first time!
