Question:

When I baked my lasagna, I used alum foil to cover it. I let my lasagna cool and used clean foil to cover and placed in my refrigerator. The next morning, the foil had small holes sporadically throughout it. (When I placed my lasagna in the frig, it was already cold). Recipe included, lasagna noodles, ground beef, Ragu spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, spices, shredded mozarella, parmesan and cheddar cheeses.

Answers: The acid in the tomatoes dissolved the foil. If you look, there are grey spots in the sauce. Scrape off these spots and don't eat that part. Next time put a layer of plastic wrap over the lasagna first. It's caused from the acid in the tomato based sauce. where the holes from prying eyes, or kids poking at it? sounds funny but its what would happen at my place, the kids poking about. Wow. Try a plastic lid that comes with new cookware. Well, i don't really know what to tell you but it may be some"creepy crawlers"(rats, mice, etc) in your refrigerator that you don't know about. Don't mean to scare you but when you get a chance, try to inspect your frig. Mice wearing high heels? I've never seen foil develop holes from tomato sauce. Very curious, I'd look into kids poking holes. Yep, redlady hit it on the head. The acid in the tomato sauce ate through the foil.
