What are some good recipies for a nice, romantic dinner for two?

i cant afford to take my wife out to eat very often, but i still want to be able to cook real nice dinners for her. any suggestions/recipes?

Answers: how sweet! one of my favorite dishes is cavatini.

preheat oven to 450

what you will need:

get a box of bow tie pasta ( really any shape will do )
your favorite spagetti sauce or pizza sauce
bag of mozzarella cheese
and your favorite pizza toppings
( examples: pepperoni, green peppers, onions, black olives, pineapple, mushrooms and etc anything goes really)

sautee all your favorite pizza toppings ( just not the cheese!)
boil enough noodles for the 2 of you and drain when done
divide the noodles into two oven safe dishes or one casserole dish if you both like the same pizza toppings
top the noodles with the sauce and stir in the sauteed toppings bake for 10 minutes and then take out and top with cheese and put back in the oven for a few minutes or until cheese is melted take out and enjoy!

1 bunch asparagus spears, ends trimmed
1 pound king crab legs
Water
White wine
Lemon slices
1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
6 veal cutlets, lightly pounded
2 tablespoons butter, divided
1 shallot, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh tarragon, chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil

Blanch asparagus tips in simmering water, drain and set aside. Poach crab legs in water, white wine and lemon slices for 5 minutes, then shell with a crab cracker and reserve.
In a shallow dish combine flour, salt and pepper; coat pieces of veal. In a saute pan over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and fry cutlets 3 minutes each side until golden brown. Remove the veal to a warm platter. Using the same pan, melt remaining butter. Stir in shallots and tarragon. Add olive oil, asparagus and crab. Saute 2 minutes to warm.

To serve: place asparagus and crab on top of each cutlet. Drizzle each with Bearnaise Sauce, recipe follows. Serve hot.

VARIATION: May substitute chicken or turkey cutlets for veal.

2T Dry White Wine.

1t Fresh Grated Ginger.

Creamed noodles
Small or medium plain (egg) noodles cooked and drained and you make a cream sauce out of corn starch and milk, with a tad of butter, salt and pepper and what ever seasonings or herbs you like. Then mix the cream sauce and noodles together. Seasoned salt is salt with several seasonings added, like garlic, onion, paprika, black pepper, chilli pepper (just a little), nutmeg, coriander and celery seed. Sometimes I buy it already made; sometimes I make something up myself. I use this mainly on meats and fish. Salmon and shrimp alfredo. buy some alfredo sauce (in a jar in the pasta aisle), pour into a pan, and add 2 tablespoons or so of your favorite pesto. add 1/2 can of drained salmon.

boil up some linguini, when it is almost done, add some peeled frozen shrimp. when they are done, drain it, add the alfredo sauce, and serve with crunchy garlic toast. light candles and serve wine. Viola!! Here are some Romantic Recipes for two -

Enjoy - remember to set the mood the table setting will matter almost as much as the food. Be sure to use candles :-) One good thing about eating at home is that you can afford to buy excellent, top-quality ingredients for about what you'd pay for a mediocre restaurant meal.

I have several cookbooks and like to try different things that look good. Also, cooking magazines often have great ideas. I think one of the most important parts of cooking good food is finding good ingredients. When I am making a "special" meal, I usually decide what to make while I'm at the grocery store.

A big part of a meal being "special" is how it looks. Think about the colors of the food you are serving. A variety of color is much more appealing than a meal where everything is the same color.

If your budget doesn't allow you to purchase cookbooks and magazines, they are free at the public library!

Be sure you get to know what your wife likes to eat and what she doesn't. It will always be more romantic if you make something she likes. You know what that is. If you don't, ask her.

Don't overdo it and try to make too much stuff. A nice balance seems to be some sort of protein (meat, fish, etc), maybe a salad or a vegetable dish, and perhaps some starch (pasta, rice, potatoes).

You can find millions of recipes online also. Think about what she might like and you'll do OK. Best of luck to you!
