Im Looking for a certain type of bean. its yellowish in color. either before or after its boiled it has a soft flexible shell with a seed inside you can actually pop out by squeezing on the shell, and eat the seed, which comes out a small opening thats made when the bean grows. it can be used as a snack or appetizer, as apposed to go with a side to a meal or go into a salad. does anyone know what im talking about? i want to get some but know know the name and/or where to buy.

Answers: I think you mean lupini beans. I've only seen them in a jar in the Italian food section. Chickpeas?

They're also called garbanzo beans. Could this be it?

If so, if you life in a town with a Whole Foods or a natural food supermarket, they'd have it. Fava came to mind. I think you are thinking of the Edamame bean. Popular in Japanese restaurants as an appetizer. The bean is soy. Steam it and shake a bit of salt on them and squeeze the bean from the pod into your mouth.
