Question:

How long should i boil an egg to make it hard boiled?

How many minutes

Answers: 10 minutes, dude! 15 mins on a low fire. Put your eggs in COLD water first. When the water boils, time it for 3 minutes. You will have the perfect hard boiled egg everytime! Dont forget...COLD water! If it's taken out from the fridge and it's at room temp I normally boil it for 10-15min if not 5-10 min longer 8 min Put it in cold water, bring to a full boil and turn the heat off! Cover and time for 12 minutes, perfectly cooked every time. I boil for 5, turn off heat, add lid and let set for 15. Put in ice bath when finished. It's what Alton Brown recommended and it works every time. As soon as the water starts to boil, you count 15 min. and you will have a hard boiled egg to enjoy. Everyone has their own way of boiling eggs and they are all correct. I have an egg holder with water in the bottom for the microwave. I love it!

Here is one way to boil eggs from:

Run cold water into the saucepan until the water is 1 inch above the egg.

Place the saucepan on a stove and cook over medium heat until the water begins to boil.

Reduce the heat to low.

Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes for soft-boiled eggs or 10 to 15 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.

Remove the egg with a spoon or ladle and let it cool slowly, or run cold water over it to cool it more quickly.

Preventing cracked egg:

Add a teaspoon of salt to the water before boiling and egg shells will not crack when boiled.

Old eggs - The older the egg, the better to peel. I usually buy eggs at least a week in advance for making deviled eggs. They will peel like a dream. I also add salt. This helps, but is not necessary if the egg is old enough. I told you this a while back, have you been following my bad example and drinking too much, put the eggs in a pan and fill up with water then boil for 30 minutes. after that take out and place in bowl of icewater for 10 minutes to quit cooking
