Are cooking sprays healthy?!

Question:

Are cooking sprays healthy?

I just bought a cooking spray (Mazola No Stick, NOT the Pure version which is not available in my area), and in the ingredient list it says it contains corn oil, isobuthane, ethylic alcohol and methyl-silicon. Is this safe for cooking and spraying on salads? It smells weird, probably the alcohol, it's that sort of smell. In the website it says all the ingredients are FDA approved but I don't know. Anyone?

Answers: The isobutane is a propellant to make it spray-able, the ethylic alcohol and methyl silicon are thinners that make the oil spread over a pan more evenly. It's fine to eat on a salad, but it'll taste funny. It's designed for cooking where the alcohol and things will burn off. No cooking spray is healthy.
It's just as bad as margarine. I don't know about spraying it on a salad. But they have sprays out that don't contain all those unnatural ingredients. no it gives fake boobs and fat lips I agree with you, after I read the ingredients a few years ago I didn't feel it was worth it.

I use olive oil for all my cooking needs. I brush it over cookware for the oven, and swirl it in my frying pan. It works as well as anything else. The food seems to taste as good as butter, except olive oil is healthy for you. If I feel the need for butter, I opt for real butter I don't see the harm in using it once in a while.

Hope this helps! I ALWAYS use olive oil for everything. It's pure and healthy.
