The receipe I followed said 1/8 tsp black pepper. Now, I tasted it and it's too peppery. How can I take the taste of pepper out?

Answers: Once the pepper hits a hot liquid, the essence (flavor) is released......I would recommend doubling the recipe (no big deal at this point) MINUS the pepper called for.....that should do the trick.....All you need to do is add more beef broth and sautee some more onions.....Enjoy!!!

I was trained at Le Cordon Bleu......... Use a slotted spoon to scoup out the onions into a separate container, then pour the soup into a fine mesh strainer. It will catch the majority of the pepper flakes. Then replace the onions and you should be good to go. I would add some broth and sauteed onions. I would add a little bit more of every ingredient in the soup, minus the pepper ofcourse and keep adding until the amount of pepper and soup is right.
