Answers: I am so glad you asked this! Corn on the cob is very easy to prepare on the grill, and is much better grilled than any other way. Here's what you need to do.
First, soak the corn ears in cold water for about half an hour. This makes them easier to silk, and gives them a little added resistance to drying out. Next, peel the husk down from the cob but do not remove it. Remove all the silk from the corn; you can use a soft brush if you have trouble removing it. Butter the corn, and season it with salt and pepper, or a spice blend if you like. Next, wrap the corn with two slices of bacon by spiraling it around the cob. Roll the husks back up onto the cob, and then chop the stalk on the bottom off, trimming it to about 1/2 an inch. Wrap the whole ear in aluminum foil, shiny side out, and seal it off as well as you can.
To grill the corn, try to place the ears well away from the flame, but in an evenly heated area. This can be tricky on gas grills. If your grill has an upper rack, you can use that; otherwise, place the corn sideways (pointing left and right) on the very front or back of the cooking surface. Using the flame on its lowest setting, grill the corn for about 40 minutes (a little longer won't hurt, but don't burn it), rotating it a quarter turn every 10 minutes or so. Remove from heat, unwrap, and enjoy! Remove the silk, keep leaves intact. Soak the whole cob for 15-20 mins first then stick on the top shelf of a gas grill, that's how I do min. You can do some butter if you want before, but it may char the corn. What is really good is rubbing the cob with lime and butter and salt pepper, Parmesean, or even hot pepper--YUM!
Leave it on there for a good 15-20 mins till it "looks" ready--the kernels will be a darker color--but not black...you will be able to tell. You can also wrap it in foil and stick it right on the bottom rack--make sure to turn every 5 mins or so. If you do it with foil, I'd put butter right in it. Enjoy! personally i think that if your doing it on a gas grill then you should take the husks off and wrap the corn in aluminum foil. But if you realy want to keep the husks on then just stick them on like that and see how it turns out. Yup, cut the silk off the end. Then stick that end under the faucet and fill it with water until the sides bulge a little. I can't say how long to leave on the grill...usually because I'm too drunk to remember. (The first part I remember though) in the microwave is best. just wrap it in a wet paper towel, 1-2 in each towel. heat 1 or 2 for 2 minutes (time may vary by microwave wattage). a variation is to wet the corn, sprinkle a little sugar on it, wrap it in saran wrap, and microwave it. remove the corn-silk but keep the husks soak in cold water for 15 minutes then sprinkle with salt & pepper, then place a couple small chunks of butter and wrap up with the husks then double wrap with aluminium foil place on top rack of grill cook for 20-30 minutes turning every 5 minutes [depending on size of grill it may take a little longer] Strip the husks back, remove the silks, add butter and herbs, pull the husks back up to cover and grill away. Soak the corn in water for about an hour. Pull back the husks, remove the silk and rub the corn with your favorite seasoning and some butter. Put the husks back around the corn. Put the corn on the grill rack. If you put the lid down turn he corn every 5 minutes or so and it will take the corn about half an hour to cook. It will take longer with no lid. Just make sure the husks are nice and moist.
