How do you make busmati rice in a rice cooker?
I have lost the instruction booklet and need to know how many cups of water should be used with how many cups of rice. Thanks
Answers: 1,5 to 2 cups water for every cup of rice Basmati whenever i cook rice, i don't really measure by cups, whether short grain or long grain (basmati). i use the 'mount fuji' method.
after washing your rice, put your hand (palm-down) over the rice(make sure it's level and you're touching the rice) then add in the water until it reaches your knuckles.
it always works for me.
by the way, long-grains use up more water than shortgrain. usually 2:1 water-rice ratio :) I c basmati rice to 1/1/2 c water. Same standard recipe as regular rice. One cup rice to two cups rice. That's it.
Depending on what your making you could subsitute some of the water with chicken stock or some other stock. It is Basmati. One part rice, two parts water, do not use more than your cooker can hold. It takes about 20 minutes. Figure about a cup of rice for every two people.
