I want pizza but have no sauce...?!

Question:

I want pizza but have no sauce...?

I really want pizza right now, and have everything to make it except for the sauce. I'm only, and can't go to the store. I have diced tomatoes, some tomato stuff that looks like red baby food, and enough seasonings to kill a chef. Can I make my own sauce? I'm fairly skilled in the kitchen, and love thick, chunky sauce. What can I make it out of?

the red stuff that looks like baby food is tomato paste. the best, easy and q-u-i-c-k remedy for a pizza sauce replacement is your TOMATAO CATSUP. yes, you can use it as your sauce and dash some italian seasoning or basil
ON TOP then put some toppings and bake it.

but if you want to use your tomatoes, try this:
HOMEMADE PIZZA SAUCE

1 (28 oz.) can pear shaped tomatoes (puree)
1/4 c. tomato paste
2 tsp. sugar
2 tbsp. snipped fresh basil
2 tsp. snipped fresh oregano
2 to 4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Combine all ingredients in a blender; buzz until smooth. Makes 3 cups.

choose your own pizza sauce
http://www.cooks.com/rec/search/0,1-0,ho... 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon dried oregano
3 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
2 (400 g) cans plum tomatoes, roughly chopped (or, 10 x large plum tomatoes, x's cut into the skin, then plunged into boiling water for 2 minutes,)
4 tablespoons tomato paste
freshly ground salt & pepper

Heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan, on medium heat.
Saute the onions and garlic until translucent, but do not allow to burn or brown.
Add the herbs and saute for 1 minute.
Add the tomatoes and tomato paste (and salt & pepper to taste) and simmer for 60 minutes on low heat (I use 2/6) until reduced to a thick sauce. I taste this every 10 minutes and sometimes add pepper if required.
Cool, and use on your favourite pizza bases. Can be used on 4 x medium bases (if you like a lot of sauce), or 6 bases if you like a thinner covering. You can also puree this with a Bamix if chunky sauce isn't your thing (plus, it goes further if you puree it). how about gently boiling the diced tomatoes until soft, then liquidize?. then add some paste to thicken it up?
just a thought! I never use tomato sauce to make pizza...

It sounds like maybe you have tomato PASTE? Add a bunch of oregano and basil and garlic powder, and enough hot water to make a really thick sauce, and spread a little of that on the crust (3 TBSP?).

OR, just use the diced tomatoes, but drain them first. You could probably use the whole jar (8oz?)
I'd add oregano and basil and garlic powder to that.

I normally use about 4 oz of crushed tomatoes on homemade pizza, and have found that the LESS seasoning you put in the sauce, the BETTER!
