Question:

How long you bake a turkey 10 lb 1 hour or 2?

Answers: With the exception of extremely lean meats, such as tenderloins, my dining quests have never been disappointed by the fact that I never go by timing per pound, regardless of what is being prepared.

You can use timing as a gage, but ultimately judge when it is ready by if it is ready to fall off the bone. (There is nothing worse than having to "tear" or "pull" off a leg bone of a turkey or chicken and then have to "chew" the meat!) You can prevent the breast from drying out by oiling or buttering the bird, sealing it well, such as with aluminum foil, as it bakes "overtime" in the oven, and then taking the foil off, if necessary, to brown the skin a little more, if further browning is to your liking. AND LET THE BIRD SIT UNDISTURBED FOR 30 MINUTES--or for a bird that size, perhaps 20. This will help retain the juices in the breast meat. Approx. fifteen minutes per pound. Close to two hours, and check the temp of the breast and thigh with an appropriate thermometer. Don't forget to remove the pack of guts and neck from the inside of the turkey. Turkey Roasting Times
