Question:

Gravy help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

i made some gravy n used wondra flour but the flour clumped up in the gravy i spooned the big chunks out but there is little ones how do i fix it????

Answers: stir it up put through sieve or colander put it in the blender or food processor when u want to make any soup gravy etc thicker, u need to make a slurry, which basically is water and flour, or water and corn strach (ther is many ways to make things thicker) but u need to wisk the water and flour together in a seperate bowl. then u need to slowly add it to the gravy and wisk the gravy while the slurry is being added. then cook for 20 mins to cook out the flour taste. Too late now sorry.
You should mix the flour with cold water to make a runny paste and then dribble it into the gravy while stirring.
Dropping flour into a hot liquid cooks the outer grains of lumps, stopping them from mixing.
you could always try using a hand mixer and then a strainer to remove the lumps. make a rue ..... Melt butter and add a little flour and then add chicken or beef or what ever broth to it and you'll get perfect gravy every time gravey simply never fail; take the drippings and heat them in a pot add 1\2 of cream or milk, in a bowl 3 tablespoons of flour and about a 1\4 cup of water. blend that together till its smooth and slowly add to the dripping and milk. be aware that not to add to much of the flour mix to fast you wont know how thick it gets till it gets up in temp so work that . and if it doesnt have a strong enough meat flavor for u add some brooth You need to mix the flour with water before adding it to the juices. I put a good amount about 1/2 cup into a large mug or bowl. Then add warm water stir it fast dont let it get thick add enough water to make a "soup". After it has been mixed well add it to a slow boiling beef juice or what ever it is. Now take a wisk and wisk it fast into the slow boiling juice. keep stirring untill it is mixed.. reduce the heat and cook it for about 15 min slow. to get the flour taste away
