What is the U.K Equivalent to all-purpose flour?!

Question:

What is the U.K Equivalent to all-purpose flour?

Hii,
I am in the U.K, we don't have all-purpose flour! Is it the same as Plain flour? Or self-raising?

Thanks!!

Answers: Yes, the answers before me are correct. Plain flour is referred to as all purpose flour or AP flour in the U.S. Here are more baking terms to help translate ;)
golden syrup= corn syrup
essence= extract
icing sugar= powdered sugar
self-raising flour= self-rising flour
cornflour= cornstarch
bicarbonate of soda= baking soda
castor sugar= granulated sugar

I've also included a link to a Dessert recipe website that has a very helpful conversion calculator to convert mass measurements into volume measurements (eg. x grams= x cup). http://dianasdesserts.com/index.cfm/fuse...

Here's yet another link that will help convert Gas Mark settings into degrees of temperature. http://www.hintsandthings.co.uk/kitchen/...

Because of these websites, I'm able to bake European recipes in my American kitchen!

Happy baking, my friend! Source(s):
I ABSOLUTELY LIVE TO BAKE! plain Plain Flour. Self-raising is Self-rising in the U.S.
