Old Cool Whip Label Pie Recipe?!
Old Cool Whip Label Pie Recipe?
I've searched high and low and for this pie recipe...even contacted Kraft with no avail. Please help me!!!!
It had graham cracker crust, instant chocolate pudding, sour cream, cream cheese, and cool whip. I think the sour cream and cream cheese were the bottom layer, then the pudding, then the cool whip on top. Does anybody remember anything like this? Please help me. This is driving me nuts!!!!!

CHOCOLATE MOUSSE PIE
1-1/2 c. flour
1-1/2 sticks margarine
3/4 c. chopped pecans (or walnuts)
1 c. confectioners' sugar
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 lg. Cool Whip
2 pkgs. instant chocolate pudding
3 c. milk
Mix flour, margarine, pecans. Pat in 9 x 13 inch pan, ungreased. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool. Cream confectioners' sugar, cream cheese, then beat well. Stir in Cool Whip - 1/2 container. Spread over baked layer after it has cooled. Beat chocolate pudding with milk until thick. Spread pudding on top of cream cheese layer. Spread over half of Cool Whip on top. Chill 24 hours. Cuts better. May be frozen and refrozen. I don't have that exact recipe but I have one quite a bit like it.
I mix 8 oz cream cheese and 1 cup cool whip together and put it in the graham cracker crust. I top that with one can of Wilderness Cherry Pie Filling and the cool whip goes on that. Following is the recipe I have made dozens of times. If you can't find the exact one you're looking for...you can use this one and adapt it...i.e. use chocoalte pudding instead of butterscotch, use graham cracker crust instead of this crust (this one is really delicious!). I don't have a recipe like you described using sour cream... Have fun and enjoy!

Layer 4: Spread top with Cool Whip and sprinkle with nuts. Refrigerate 8 to 10 hours. Although i do not know the exact recipe that you are searching for, I have made several variations on what you are describing. Here is one of the recipes.

Favorite Ganache recipe
tub of cool whip or whipped cream to garnish
1) In a saucepan, combine sugar, flour, and salt; stir in milk and mix well.
2) Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil; boil for 2 minutes.
3) Remove from heat. Stir a small amount of cream mixture into egg yolks to temper them; return all to saucepan.
4) Cook for 2 more minutes, stirring constantly; remove from heat.
5) Add butter and vanilla; mix well so that butter melts, and allow to cool slightly. Mash 1 regular banana and mix well into cream mixture.
6) Make ganache, allow to cool and pour and spread over pie shell so bottom and sides are covered. Slice the apple bananas and place evenly over the chocolate in pie shell. Pour cream mixture gently over bananas.
7) Cool in refrigerator until more stable. Before serving garnish with whipped cream or cool whip, an apple banana slice, and a shake of cocoa powder.
