Can Rum be used in a recipe instead of Bourbon?!

Question:

Can Rum be used in a recipe instead of Bourbon?

The recipe is a pumpkin cheesecake.

Answers: Sure you can......I sub out different alcohols when I'm cooking all the time......the only difference will be if the end product is NOT going to be cooked......Think about this: during the holidays, you can either use bourbon, brandy or rum in eggnog......You can do the same with pecan and pumpkin pie......Let us know how it comes out......

I was trained at Le Cordon Bleu........... Negative. You may be able to substitute some whiskey though. The taste is too different to use it instead of Bourbon. Funny that it's a pumpkin cheesecake - rum is usually mentioned in chocolatey recipes. Rum truffles - mmmmmmmmmmm..... i think its personel taste, i think rum woulg be nicer than bourbon in a pumpkin cheesecake actually, rum tastes better in most cheese desserts...but you might want to try anisette for an old country flavor..... I think it would turn out just fine.
