healthier cooking tips:
http://www.shape-up.org/weightcon/health... duck egg on toast sardines salad califlour cheese corned dog pie bread and butter puding rice and maccaronie puddings etc For teas I always have liked the small sandwich, the cream cheese on nutty bread with the small bites of celery, olive, onion, water cress etc. However if you are not a cream cheese fan, and you are feeding youngsters a Tuna Casserole is easy with a side of fresh cooked grean beans, not soft cooked but a little crispy, or even with some broccoli heads flavored with grated cheese, garlic and salt and pepper. Youngsters will like brocolli OK if smothered in melted cheese or some want no part of cheese and will eat these trees just cause you can pull the branches off. Quick cooked asparagus, the real thin ones with some parmesan or ramano sprinkled on top is quick, either three minuts in a quick fry on the stove or three minutes in a steamer. For supper a beef cube and mushroom (mostly mushroom) creamy stew with a wine and cream sauce, throw in a few onions and other vegies cook all the ingredients until done, add wine and sour cream and season the way you like, over noodles is quick and tasty. Do an egg pie, for tea, with a bowl of finger food fruit. Don't forget rosemary as an aromatic spice for both.... lots of stuff out there to replace bangars and mash. So enjoy. If you are trying to plan so a weeks worth is available at a moments notice, to go fresh and nice is a huge challenge and may require frequent stops at the green grocer, however with great planning, many fruits will last a good five days in the fridge as will many fresh vegies, and of course eggs and flours, if you have a fridge the size I used to have the freezer is non existant so you may need more vegetable based meals than meat. Not knowing I've said enough, but your voice sounds like some of my old friends. I have tried the two step chicken dish on pace picante jars and it is awesome.
4 Tbsp Brown sugar
1Tbsp dijon mustard
1 1/2 cups pace picante(whatever flavor Hot, Mild, or Medium)
you pour this over chicken breast and bake for 20 mins
This is served over rice (I use Spanish Rice )
I also add cheddar cheese and Japanese Chili (Sricha) for your teas, try this- it's fabulous and easy:

Mix sliced smoked salmon and cream cheese together with some fresh dill.

Spoon into endive leaves. (use them like little endive boats)
garnish with a little more fresh dill on top.

Handy gourmet finger food!
