if you still find it hard to look for crisco, you may go to all the big supermarkets have veggie shortening instead.They are also good. try it.

http://www.crisco.com/index.asp... Um, butter is shortening. I'm not sure what this question means. I usually use half butter/margerine and half fat in pastry. They can be bought anywhere. I know you can buy specific hard fats for pastry in supermarkets. Try the chilled spreads section in the larger supermarkets like Asda Tesco or Morrisons. You don't have Crisco in the UK...???
they have a butter flavored shortening,,
but get real
margarine is the same thing
I remember as margarine was introduced in the 1940's
it came in a 1lb brick sealed in plastic with a flavor/ color button we broke and squished the brick to mix the yellow color,, it was fun
