HELP...BBQ Shredded Pork Too Moist?
I decided to make BBQ Shredded Pork Sandwiches for dinner but added too much BBQ Sauce. Is there a way I can take away the excess moistness without ruining dinner? Any advice would help....Thanks!
Answers: Put it in a saucepan on low heat and stirr frequently to reduce moisture. Of course this will make the sauce sweeter and stronger. You might want to press the meat first with the back of a spoon and remove some of the sauce. put it all in the colander in the sink and let it drain a while...
otherwise, you'll have to add more solids, maybe onions and green peppers? Put the sauce in a pot and simmer on low heat. The excess moisture will evaporate and the sauce will reduce. This will give the sauce a stronger flavor, too.
You could also heat it up and add a tablespoon or two of cornstarch. Just stir it in, and keep stirring for about two minutes. The cornstarch will absorb the excess moisture and gel up. get a tray and lay out several paper towels on it. toss the meat into the towels to drain whatever excess moisture they can soak up, and then toss the meat onto a pan on low heat. stri fry for a few minutes until the moisture lessens, but don't do this for too long or your meat may end up too dry and too tough!
The flavors may get a bit stronger too, so compensate by adding more tomatoes or lettuce to the sandwich, and don't add more salty condiments. There is no such thing as too much sauce, but if you must, Use a slotted spoon to take the pork out, take the sauce out , and return the pork to the pot. You will be serving coleslaw with that, wont you? Try serving it open face with a thick piece of bread, with more bread on the side for dipping.
