Answers: I have never figured out what causes innocent questions to get deleted, my guess is product name...
The grocery store sells these products, usually on the same isle that houses the sugar, in fact at my store it is directly across from the sugar, and their are canning jars right below the pectin. Good luck with the spicy jelly... I want some too!!! Pectin is used to thicken the jelly and make it set - you can find it in most grocery stores usually where they sell the jars for canning jelly and vegetables. Pectin is sold as Suregel (sp?) in the US. Dont know if there are other brands out there Pectin is a gelatin compound often used in preserves, jellies and jams, and can be found in larger grocery stores in the canning section (which is sometimes seasonal) or near the jellos and puddings.
In making your Jalapeno jelly, not much of a recipe is needed, but you should have an idea how you want it to taste.
A basic over-view is to prepare your jalapenos by washing, coring(removing the white pith inside) and fully de-seeding.
Then you can start cooking with sugar and a tiny bit of water. Usually you would strain the whole thing before jarring or canning, so you should start with a very large amount of peppers and sugar with your water. Salt is another addition to the pot and of course the pectin will go in toward the end of the cooking after the batch is strained. Adjusting the taste is a matter of personal choice so be prepared to taste as you go and be care-full the mix will be very hot in temperature and in spiciness. Having a large glass of cold milk will be handy.
As you are simmering the mix, some foaming will be likely, just skim it off as it develops and discard.
Good Luck with your jelly :o)
