Why can't I ever make Minute Rice the right way?!
Answers: I'm a great cook, but I can't get rice right! I follow the directions but it turns out hard and dry. I usually have to ad way more water and wait much longer for it to be edible. WTF?
The best way to cook MINUTE? Rice is on the stove:
1. BRING water to a boil.*
2. STIR in rice; cover. Remove from heat. (make sure to stand there and wait for the boiling to start. EVAPORATION causes water loss)
3. LET stand 5 minutes or until water is absorbed. Fluff with fork
Since you are using Minute Rice and following the directions you may be having a very simple problem. I have *correction..used to have* two sets of measure cups. Pyrex and metal. The metal measuring cups were NOT accurate..*they are now used by the kids as toys*
Just a thought, but it MIGHT just be your measuring cups not being accurate.
2cups of water to 1 cup of rice simmer on low (covered) until the water evaporates ps do not stir!!!!
Make sure your water is boiling....but make sure it did not boil away!!!!! I make Minute Rice all the time and it is great. Add a little butter to the water when boiling. After you add rice let it come to a boil once again, turn off fire and be sure the lid you put on is a very tight fitting one. Maybe the steam is leaking out.
nfd?
-use equal parts of water and rice ( 1c water and 1c rice)
-boil the water- make sure its bubbling a lot
-i like to add a spoonfull of white sugar to mine
-add the rice and let boil for about 2 minutes, then cover with a lid
-remove from heat and wait for 5 minutes
-eat it!
Please note that watter boils faster the higher from the ocean you get.
what takes 5 minutes at the ocean level ( LA) could take only 2 minutes at 5000 feet. (Denver)
Also make sure your lid is tight, that could be a sign the steam is evaporating.
Good luck.
When making Minute Rice (or any brand of rice like that) when the water boils, put the rice in it, stir, cover tightly, then remove from heat. Don't uncover for about 5-7 minutes.
Don't make minute rice. It just doesn't have the taste and flavor of real rice. Real rice is easy, 2 cups of water, bring to a boil, add one cup of rice, cover and cook for 15 minutes on low. Perfect every time and much more tasty. Brown rice, the same except the cooking time is 45 to 50 minutes.
