Can any one convert American measures to UK/NZ weights?!

Question: I live in New Zealand but grew up in the UK.. Either metric (UK) or imperial is ok for me. (Pounds and ounces or grams and kilograms)

The problem is...There are some great recipies from Americans on here but I have no idea how much a 'cup' of flour, sugar etc weighs. What size cup?

Am confused LOL

Please help....pretty please.....

Here is another website that shows numerous tables for flour, cereals, sugar, fats and cheeses, dried fruits, liquid measurements etc.

Here you go... this site gives you tables of conversions, and also a little weight converter tool.

This probably won't answer you question completely but
454 g = 1 lb
946 ml = 1qt
2 cups = 1 pint
2 pints = 1 quart
The biggest problem you will have is that in household baking, recipes are listed in volume measurements which should be in mass measurements. For example 1 cup (volume) of flour should be in mass (pounds or grams) and the equivalent is dependent on the density of the powder. Therefore if someone gives you that kind of equivalent be careful because it will actually vary depending on how well packed the powder is. This is also true of sugar and spices which are measure in teaspoons and table spoons.
Hope this helps
