"cake like" brownie mix question here?!
Answers: It was suggested I not use "cake like" brownie mix if I am going to use cookie cutters on the brownies. I hate to sound stupid, but how will I know in advance if a brownie mix is "cake like".
Not a stupid question at all.
Most brownie mixes are not the "cake-like" variety. So you should be fine.
To make a brownie more "cake like," you use more eggs. If you look on the package, it will usually call for 2 eggs and in an asterisk, it will say *for more cake like brownies, use 3 eggs.
So any brownie mix will do.
And for the record, the only reason it is saying not to use the cake like kind is that the brownie will end up too tall to get a clean cut with the cookie cutter. Even if your brownie is a little tall, if you are careful with the cutter, you will still be fine.
dont quote me - but i think on the box there is an option for a cake like browning - like used more eggs or something
Adding more eggs will make it more "cake-like." Richer. Your basic brownie should do just fine.
I use Betty Crocker, Fudge Like Brownies, and follow the recipe on the back for Cake Like Brownies, it calls for an extra egg, less oil and they turn out fine. but.....
Cake Like brownies raise up higher than traditional brownies, so that is why you may not want to use that kind with cutters.
Any brownie mix that says fudge, should work just fine!!
Cake like brownies are made in a 9x13 pan and they are thick like a cake. Regular brownies are only a couple inches thick and are usually made in a bar pan.
the cake like mix would be softer and maybe even higher than the other mix
