What should I cook?!
I would like it to be an easy recipe but not pasta, mexican or indian as we have had lots of those sort of nights!
Any ideas people?
Answers: I have 5-6 people coming round for an informal/relaxed dinner staurday night but I don't know what to cook.

Why not try a fondue?
One pot of hot oil, small chunks of chicken, beef, pork, sausage, or whatever takes your fancy. Serve up jacket pots and french bread or garlic bread, buy some ready made dips and let them feed themselves!
I did this not long ago for 8 people and we spent all night at the table chatting and having a good laugh. People don't feel pressured to eat whatever you put on their plate as they choose for themselves, and it is easy to set up and stress free.
Whatever you do I hope you have a good time xx
fondue...barbeque...or petros...
barbque beef or chicken
Grilled steak
Steamed stir fry
salisbury steak
the reason you have lots of those nights is because pasta and mexican is party friend and money friendly solutions. i still say pasta, you can always try new recipes. cold pastas and salad for instance. have fun
Its not too late for a Bar-B-Q!
Chicken/steak
Homemade potato salad
Watermelon
Cold drinks
Being that it is fall, and the weather has cooled....a nice pork shoulder roast with smashed potatoes, salad and apple pie ala mode! Ok, now I am hungry.
OR... a big pot of a seafood soup with fresh bread....
OR...Baked ziti and garlic bread.....
The possibilites are endless!!!!
You should do Chicken Marsala. if you go on cooks.com you will find a good recipe for it. It is soooooooooo good!! Hope this helps
Slow Cook a Nice Roast Beef , there is nothing better !
Why don't you boil a few packs of ramen and add a bit of curry? It's different, it's easy, and it's tasty! Well, in my opinion, at least.
Well me being the native Tennessean I am would highly recommend going out for a drive and whatever you hit slow cook over night with some taters and carrots and if you have the extra money splurge on some gravy. That always makes things taste better down here. For desert try freezing some kool aid.
you could make bbq chicken. It's really simple. Put a bunch of chicken pieces in a large zip lock bag, dump in a bottle of bbq sauce and mix all together. Preheat oven to 375 put chicken in baking dish and heat for 45 min uncovered. You could make a bunch of garlic mashed potatos and a nice green salad.
Jubal ya/ that is a down south rice with smoke sausage and ground beef added, green beans and baked chicken wings
you you are those sugar lover people, you might want to have a dessert party. all chocolates and cakes.
another idea will be, ask whoever you are asking over to each cook something they are good at. and all people can taste each other's culinery skill. since it is an informal dinner.

This is a great recipe. It might seem intimidating, but it was so easy and it turned out great. Everyone that has had this - loved it. It is nice, because it is a little different (away from the typical pasta, mexican, or meat and potato dinners).
The name of the recipe is Island Pork Tenderloin Salad on www.epicurious.com (in case the link does not work).
Hope you have a great party!
This is what you need to cook. Fry up some chicken, cook a box of Zatarains Jumbalya, boil some corn, and make some dinner rolls and that'll be a good meal!
If in doubt, I almost always do Nigella's lemon chicken with easy mash - just get a decent organic, free range chicken (tastes good, no nasty chemicals and you have a chance that it had half a decent life, considering!). You might want to cook 2 if they're small-ish chickens. Put it in a big pot - like a Le Creuset pot if you have anything like that. Season with salt & pepper, cut a lemon in half and put both halves up the chicken's bottom (sorry, no other way of putting that nicely!). I usually throw a couple of unpeeled garlic cloves into the pot too. Smear the chicken with butter and pour a little olive or sunflower oil over. Roast in the pot for the recommended cooking time for the size of chicken and remove the lid for the last 40 mins. The chicken will come out tender, tasty, but crispy skinned - yum. Just take the lemons out before you carve it. If you like, it's nice with some more lemon juice squeezed over before you serve it, but that's personal taste.
Easy mash is really simple - just cook potatoes in their jackets (1 big one each or 1.5 small ones each) until cooked. Hold them in a teatowel, cut them in half, and scoop the middles out into a big bowl. Stir in butter, a little salt and pepper, and give the whole thing a really good stir or whisk. If you want to go the whole hog, you can stir in some cream or creme fraiche too. Plus some chives. In fact anything that takes your fancy!
I usually do some green salad with this with Mary Berry's salad dressing and everyone just digs in. V easy and v tasty! If you want more detail, both recipes are in Nigella's "Feast" book.
Have a nice evening!
A greek night,... I used to love doing these, ...a joint of lamb cooked with oregano, olive oil & lemon juice, new pots with skin on cooked in the same,
butter beans with fresh tomatoe sauce (dead easy, olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, garlic all blended together n poured on to butter beans and stick in oven for a hour or so.. everyting is slow roasted so u can relax, serve with a fresh greek salad, pitta breads, and some hummous dips etc...
It's gorgeous and I've yet to meet anyone who doesn't like it.... good luck x
Shepherds pie, toad in the hole or stewed steak and dumplings.
Cook a pork roast in the crock pot (takes about 6-8 hours on low or turn to high for 4-6 hours) and shred the meat and have sanwiches with BBQ sauce! It's yummy and makes your house smell so good. You can have it shredded before people get there and keep it warm in the crock pot. Have a great party!
Sausage casserole- yum!
BBQ - Ribs, chicken, sausage with potato salad, macaroni salad or cole slaw, baked beans and corn on the cob.
Grilled steak, baked potato, grilled asparagus, tossed or caesar salad.
Chicken, beef or shrimp fajitas with all the trimmings.
Baked chicken breasts, rice pilaf, steamed broccoli.
Lasagne or spaghetti, tossed or caesar salad and garlic bread.
Meatloaf, creamy mashed potatoes and whole kernel corn.
Fried chicken, baked macaroni and cheese and seasoned green beans.
Chef salads with rolls.
Or you could do an array of hors'deuvres (spelling???) such as deviled eggs, stuffed jalapeno poppers, sandwich pinwhells, spinach dip, cheese or ham log with crackers.
Hope this helps! Mmmmmm ... I'm hungry now.
