What is the easiest way to peel an apple?!
Answers: I don't have one of those fancy apple peeler/corers and I am not about to go buy one because they are expensive. Are there any options between that and trying to do it with a knife? I tried doing it with a knife, but it was not fun and took me forever, plus I wasted alot of apple. Any suggestions?
My mom uses a small, non-serrated knife...also known as a "paring" knife to do this all in one sweep so to speak. By the way, I was at Wal-Mart looking for an ice cream scooper today (finally found the kind the cooks use on tv that pops the ice cream out) and saw a peeler there...it's the house brand....for around $5 and it looked neat. If you do a lot of seasonal cooking and baking with them, invest in a nice Pampered Chef one...check out Ebay though for a good price.
a paring knife is the best option, just go really slow and work your way around the apple just like you would if you were using a peeler.
apple peelers are not expensive. they cost about $2.5 at any grocery store. and they do so much more than just apples.
corers are not much more expensive. they also do interesting things.
other than that just patience with peeling the peel off the apple a tiny bit at a time til you have it done and have learned how to peel things with a knife.
nope, I use a knife, cut in half, then quarters, first take out the core then peel...
I always justed used a peeler (the kind you use for carrots, I guess we used them for everything even potatoes). Usually the skin was not that tough that it didn't work. Besides the fact that all the nutrients the apple has to offer is right under the skin- so why take it off.
Get a potato peeler, peel the Apple starting at the top and working your way circularly towards the bottom of the Apple.
You could just chop it into quarters then eat around the peel. When I was a kid we would just have mom peel it. she could peel the entire apple and never break the peel. So we would have an Apple then a treat of eating the entire one piece peel.
