Flaxseed meal is very healthy...it's loaded with Omega-3 and 9. It is excellent in eggs. You can also put it any baked goods...coatings for fried chicken, stir in in pasta sauce, mix it with yogurt...the possibilities are endless. I buy it at Trader Joe's. But it is usually in the "Natural/Organic" aisle of my grocery store.
Like Little Miss Lucious said, flax meal is very nutritious for you providing Omega-3s and soluble and insoluble plant fiber. Your kids will never notice it if you mix it into granola, pancakes, waffles, biscuits, cakes, cookies, or any sort of baked good. If you eat fruits with toppings on them, flax is good to mix into the toppings. Flax meal mixed with cornmeal and seasonings makes a great coating for fried tofu or fish.
what is the point of mixing it into eggs? eggs are not good for you. besides, they're naturally high in fat and usually cooked in oil. if you're looking for omega3, eat fish like tuna or salmon or trout. i eat salmon all the time. someone above said to mix it with pancakes, cookies etc...wtf? what is the point, if you're gonna make it more unhealthy for them to even eat this stuff without noticing. you know what i mean? let's clog up their arteries with butter, and then give them some flaxseed to help prevent heart disease. great idea!!! best thing, give them salmon once a week for dinner and a tuna sandwhich another day. and if you want fiber, well there's an old saying, "an apple a day will , keep the doctor away."
