Why is it ok to eat med rare (beef steaks), but not pork steaks?!

Answers: Traditionally pork was cooked completely before consumption because pigs were infected with a parasite call trichina which causes trichinosis (this is a disease you do not want to get). So people were instructed to always cook pork completely. Over the years, hog producers have cleaned up their act and pigs no longer eat garbage (at least in the US). So while trichina is not longer an issue we still cook pork completely. It has nothing to do with bacteria (germs) as stated above.

Pork like chicken must be cooked to a certain temp to kill germs.
aint no need in taking chances with pork
cook it well done,it will still be tender
I like to brown my pork steak and then finish it in a nice brown gravy all smothered with onions over white rice.
they used to say to cook pork well done because of a disease called trichinosis. it was really nasty. But now with the inspection system here in the USA that isn't a problem any more.
rule now is to cook the meat as done or not as you see fit. It is safe and healthy as long as it is a product of the USA!!!
its more than germs you want to kill its a parasite actually. pig are fed slop. which is pretty much anything edible thats left over. so in the slop you never know what may be lurking...
