Banana Bread Recipe
A favorite banana nut bread recipe is also a simple one. Scroll down for more banana bread recipes, including several with other nuts and fruits.

* 1 cup sugar
* 1/2 cup shortening
* 2 eggs
* 2 cups flour
* 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 3 soft, ripe bananas, mashed








Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs, flour, soda, bananas, and chopped nuts. Pour banana bread batter into 1 greased and floured loaf pan; bake at 325° for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. This banana nut bread recipe makes 1 loaf.
BANANA LOAF

Cream: 2 eggs 1 tsp. soda 4 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 2 c. sugar 2 c. mashed bananas 6 tbsp. sweet milk 2 tsp. baking powder Nuts or chips of choice
Pour into two loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees until a toothpick comes out clean. Use small loaf pans.
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup margarine
2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup mashed very ripe bananas (2 or 3, more to taste)

Sift flour, measure and resift 3 times with baking powder, soda, and salt. Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and beat well after each addition. Add bananas and mix. Add flour in 4 portions and beat until smooth after adding each portion.
Turn into a well-greased pan (8 x 4 x 2-1/2 inches) and bake in moderate oven (350 F.) for 50 minutes or until bread tests done. Cool on rack before slicing.
