What food would go well with my cheesy mashed potatoes tonight?!

Question: I'm a horrible cook and want to make dinner for my girlfriend tonight. I have a recipe for mashed potatoes from a friend that I know she will like, what else can I do to accompany this dish?

Round steak in natural gravy with onions, and steamed broccoli.

Take your round steak, cut into serving sized pieces, and salt and pepper it. Sear it in butter. When it is brown add an onion sliced fairly thick, and cook down until onion is almost clear. Then add some water, lower heat, cover, and cook for approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Keep checking to be sure that there is some juice left so as not to dry up you meat. If juice cooks down, add some more water. Steak will be nice and tender. Serve steak with onions on top.
Meatloaf and cole slaw
how about a grilled steak and some lightly boiled green beans?
Gammon and egg
Roast beef? Or a steak, might be easier and faster to cook.
Generally I like red meat with my potatoes.

And pick a good veggie too... Steamed asparagus or something.

Don't forget dessert ;)
steak salad and some corn. and some roses and candels
fried chicken and a vegetable salad and fresh fruit juice
fried pork chop, smothered pork chop, corn, or fried chicken and cornbread,
any meat like a meatloaf, a steak or chicken, Either a vegetable or a salad. a desert and coffee.
Baked chicken. It's healthy and delicious. You can find many good and easy recipes on the internet. Just google it.
Some pork chops or baked steak sounds nice.maybe some green beans or a salad.A plate of fruit would be a good way to start or finish the meal as well.
A nice piece of steak, cooked on the grill, barbecued chicken, fried chicken, grilled ham steaks, etc. etc.
steak
if you really are a horrible cook (probably just inexperienced i bet), you want to keep it simple. do shake and bake pork chops, and either a simple green salad, or steam some broccoli. you can also heat up some refrigerator biscuits, like pillsbury's. good luck! your girl will love it that you're making dinner for her.
ham or a fried ham steak with corn or a salad
