I know this may sound stupid, but what is a tater tot?!
Answers: an american friend gave me a recipe, one of the ingrediants was 2lbs of tater tots im guessing its some kind of root vegetable,am i right?
A tater tot is just like the frozen hash brown patties, except it is a small round barrel shape. You can buy them at Farm Foods sometimes, but they are not called tater tots there, and to be honest I have forgotten what they are called, because I haven't seen them there a few months. In a pinch, you could use the hash brown patties, just thaw and break them up. I use them for hash brown casserole, which is another American recipe, but I can't get the exact type of frozen potatoes needed here in the UK. BTW, the ones from Sonic in the USA are incredible!
It's little bite sized chunks of spiced ground up potato. Pretty good stuff.

tater tots are good from sonic
Its just fried potatos.
e.g, potato pom poms, oven crunchies, etc. it's a small, cylindrical shaped fried potato food, often used as a substitute for french fries. it's about 1 inch cubed in size, made of potato pieces, and coated with a crumb coating to hold together the cylinder whilst being fried.
lol... A "tater tot" is a prepared and pressed potato about the size of a thread spool. The texture is the same as the McDonalds Breakfast Hash Brown... sort of a crumbled potato. We buy these frozen in bags. You pour out a number of them on a cookie sheet and bake them or broil them to warm and toast. Just a bite size finger licking fried potato product.
I wouldn't be surprised if you don't have the same thing under another name (cookie-biscuit, Texas fries-chips...)
g-day!
LOOK OVER BY WHERE THE FRENCH FRIES ARE IN THE FROZEN SECTION. THEY ARE LITTLE ROUND BROWN THINGS. SUPPOSE TO BE POTATO. NOT BAD LIKE A FRY BUT ROUND
it is a frozen potato that was fried before freezing. It is about an inch long and round not like a french fry
When they use potatoes in the factory, the extra trimmings are collected, ground up and fried in little puffs, then frozen. That does not sound so good but they are great! Do you have potato patties, or hash browns, that you would fry or bake for breakfast, that would be about the same thing.
