Does anyone have a recipe for a basic cheese and potato pie please?!

Question: I just want it to contain cheese, potatoes, onions, milk (if need be) and salt, pepper and mustard. But need to know how to prepare this dish, i.e timings etc. Thanks

My nan used to make the best cheese and potato pie, I loved it so much I have the recipe tucked inside a recipe book and cook it for my family every once in a while as they adore it!
I will give you my recipe, I would recommend you try it, as it is delicious, and really easy too!

Okay, here it goes...

What you will need...

3lb of potatoes
400g of grated cheese (a strong cheese is great as it adds so much more flavour)
3 eggs
3/4 pint of milk
60g of margarine (not butter as it makes the consistency very gloopy...not nice!!!)

My nan also used a little bit of salt and pepper and she mixed in some wholegrain mustard (about a tablespoon-it is better than using normal english mustard as it has a much softer and tangy flavour)

Butter a baking dish and put a layer of cheese first (most people use potatoes first but the cheese seels the other ingredients in) and then make alternative layers of cheese and potatoes.

Beat the eggs, salt, pepper, milk and margarine and the mustard too and pour it into the dish.

Bake in the oven on gas mark four for an hour and a half. I have baked it for an hour in the past and although it has been cooked on the outiside, it has been stodgy on the inside. Having an hour and a half will mean it cooks on the inside and the potatoes will soften and soak up the other ingredients.

I would serve it with some bread and butter and have it straight away while its hot. Its a gorgeous meal and the recipe, if followed will probably become one of your favourites as it is effortless and yet so tasty!
this is great.
slice you potatoes (4 large), in a sauce pan add a quarter of a block of velveta and 4 cups of half & half and one packet of taco seasoning (trust me). bring to a boil melting the cheese, simply pour over the potatoes bake 400 degrees 45-1 hour.
check softness of potatoes before removing. i love it. you will too. you can add whatever eles you like onions, mustard ect. maybe try mustard powder rather than the yellow liquid stuff, remember a little goes a long way with that stuff.
the last persons recipe sounds about right
this is called 'Homity Pie' here in the South West
This is the closest I could come to what you want. Use it as a guide only:
