Mmmmmm soup.....?!

Question: It's always great on cold, snowy days to sit down with a bowl of soup and snuggle. On a day like this, what would be your soup of choice?

Homemade potato soup that my grandma left me the recipe for.It has potatos, bacon and onions that are sauted in the bacon grease, in a milk based soup mix with garlic, and butter floating on top. I wish I could explain it better.
Second choice would be home made clam chowder.
tomato is my boring all time favourite
I love soup. You should have minestrone or tomato rotoni. I like almost all soups, except chowders. I don't really care for them.

Where do you live that is already snowing?
Any soup. I love soup too. I generally make a veggie soup with a little pasta or a cream of whatever veggie I have on hand soup.
chicken noodle or somthing like that.. lol but its deff in the 80s here and I don't think I want any soup.
Chicken and wild rice is my fav or vegetable I love.
Beef Stew
2 pounds lean round or chuck steak
3 tablespoons butter or salad oil
1 large onion, peeled and chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
2 cups sliced carrots
2 cups potatoes, cut into large pieces
2 stalks celery, chopped
2 cups green peas or string beans
1 cup corn, cut from cob
2 cups water or undiluted beef broth
1/2 cup vermouth
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon tarragon
Pinch of thyme
1 bay leaf (optional)
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Brown beef quickly in melted butter. Remove beef to heated dish. Brown onion and garlic in pan drippings over low heat. Prepare vegetables; set aside. Return beef to stockpot with onion and garlic. Add potatoes, carrots, celery, water, vermouth, seasonings and herbs. Cook slowly for 10 minutes or so.

Add green peas and corn, cook 10 minutes more or until vegetables are tender.

Taste to correct seasonings. Spoon into soup plates. Garnish with Parmesan cheese at the table. If desired, stew can be thickened with flour but tastes best using natural juice of vegetables and meat to flavor the stew.
New England clam chowder
I love ribs soup
It's not cold here, mid-50's, but I'll make chili over the weekend.
On cold days, I usually like a heavier soup like split pea or lentil or maybe a chicken and corn chowder.
clam chowder, it sure helped the sailors of days past when the weather was cold and wet and they needed a sturdy soup to get them warmed up and full of nutrition... unless of course your allergic to seafood, in which case, maybe a corn chowder
