What I do when I make soup and want to add macaroni, noodles,or rice I cook the rice/pasta seperate to my desired taste, drain,(I prefer it "al dente",meaning a bit firmer)and add a few spoons to each bowl of soup just before serving,DO NOT ADD TO POT OF SOUP.keep the left over pasta/rice in a seperate container and when u heat more soup just add a few spoons of rice,no need to heat the rice, the hot soup will heat it.
do cook it separately (the rice) drain it and rinse it- wait till the soup is finished cooking, then add the rice to just "warm it up" a bit to the soup- voila!
cook the rice with a little bot of water about 5 tbs (matter how much rice you want) the n when the rice is done add the chicken. then you should be good..
