Are mushrooms considered a vegetable even though they are a fungus?!

Question: True that mushrooms are part of the fungi family, but the thing is that fungi as characteristics of a plant. They both have the same life cycle, but fungi instead get nutrients from dead decay so they basically eat food straight from the ground. People today use them as vegetables but in real life there really fungi.
