I want to make a pie...a pretty pie that my young daughter would like ages 1 and 4?!

Question: What do you suggest...and I want to make it homemade...not just go and buy one.

Hmmm good question. My daughter is 14 months, and she loves anything sweet! But I can see how your 4 year old might not like certain pies. How about a chocolate cream pie? You can sprinkle chocolate shavings on top to make it look extra appealing to her. I wonder if she could get into a pumpkin pie since it's the fall season. Maybe if you guys started with a pumpkin, scooping out the seeds and stuff. You can then make a jack o lantern with it, but swap out the pumpkin for a can of it and she'll never know the difference.

You could make a tart using puff pastry, strawberry jelly, cream cheese, and fresh berries.

I can think of tons of kid friendly recipes lately lol.

I think making it with your 4 year old would be the trick to getting her to eat it though.
one year old?
ummmm give them a cut up banana and say
"look mommy made you a banana pie"
easy!
Maybe a peach pie.Apparently those are really too nice and not too sour. Also try decorating the top with pastry shapes. Your daughters might be able to help with the shapes !!!

Heres the link to the recipe. Enjoy !!!
Kids love blueberry crumb and they make great pictures after eating it, too!
i don't have the recipe with me, but you can make jello pies, (like the ones they advertise in every magazine around easter time)where you mix the jello with cool whip...you can use the babies' favorite color/flavor and it's SUPER easy, i think they'll love it...oh, and you can write their names with cake decorating gel on it...i did that once for a friend that was moving away and they liked it. your 1 year old, of course, won't be able to recognize his/her name, but your 4 year old will, and it will be special to them!
Woman's Day Magazine always has really creative ideas when it comes to any kind of baked goods. You could visit their website to see what they're featuring this month.

One idea I got from them a few years ago was to roll out the pie crust for the top layer and instead of just putting it on top as a solid piece, you can use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes (like leaves, that's what I use) and then you just lay them on top of the the pie before you bake it. This is something your older daughter may even be able to help with. If she actually gets to put the shapes on before the pie is made then she may be more inclined to eat it because she helped.
Graham cracker crust, any pudding they like, fill the crust with the prepared pudding.

They make these at the Nursing Home where my mom works.
They use small individual crust.

If you could find the individual crust, just add fresh fruit.

If my girls didn't like sweets I wouldn't worry about encouraging them to eat sweets, candies, pies or cakes.
Why not make something like a fruit tart? Let your daughters pick some crayons from their crayon box and then go out and buy some fruit that match those colors and put them on the tart. They will like the different colors on the tart and you can have your 4 year old tell you the colors and teach your 1 year old them.
your daughter is both one and four?

Umm sprinkles?
