What is your favorite recipe involving rice?!
Answers: I'd like some new recipes for my family, and rice is favorite in this house :)
If yours is a rice eating family, you must try this;
Jasmine rice is a rice which cooks in to a "lumpy" grain rice.
The grains are not loose and individual, and it smells wonderful.
Use it with a handfull of lentils and add some mildly curried squares of beef to make the best "curry and rice" dish ever.
Also good for making rice pudding with the rice that was not consumed on the day.
This kind of rice is a must for making "fried rice and shrimps/prawns", and makes the best biryani's.
I like a jambalia, which is so simple.
Just fry some fish, or fish fingers, shrimps or prawns and onions and when almost done, add cooked rice to the pan, stirring well.
It is an old slave dish and leans it self to many variations.
So my suggestion:
Jasmine Rice.
Curry
Rice Pudding and custard.
Biryani, or
Jambalia
Hope it helps
Anything in the Chinese food family. Beef and broccoli over rice with teriyaki glaze is my personal favorite.
fried rice is always nice :)
I love Rice a Roni. I prepare it as says on package, then just a few min before cooking time is up, I add a little frozen brocolli,or a half of a small package of California Blend veggies to the recipe, as well as some already grilled chicken pieces. Cover and let simmer remaining cooking time.
I make this and serve it over rice. I also double the sauce part of the recipe. Enjoy!

hainanese chicken rice!! awesome! or chinese style fried rice!
Very simple n very delicious!
SIMPLY SHRIMP FRIED RICE
1-1/2 cups rice, cooked
20-25 small shrimp
1 onion
1 red pepper
1 egg
3/4 cup peas
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup soy sauce
butter or oil
Cook rice as directed, approximately 1-1/2 cups.
In a medium-sized frying pan, sauté 1 small chopped onion, 1 red chopped pepper, and 3/4 cup frozen peas in butter or oil. Set aside.
Next, sauté 20-25 small shrimp with 1 large clove of garlic in butter or oil. When lightly brown, add vegetable mixture.
After just a couple of minutes, add frying pan mixture to rice pot. Quickly scramble 1 egg and add to pot as well. Add 1/4 cup of soy sauce, using judgement and preference, of course.
Stir, simmer for a few minutes and enjoy.
You mean dishes to go with rice? Anyway,to cook good rice, you soak it in water for a couple of hours before cooking. This will make the rice 'fuller' when it's cooked.(Use the old water for bathing. It will make your skin beautiful.)
I like beef curry with coconut milk, sushi which isn't just raw fish, pad thai, and my favorite beef and broccoli it has some chinese spices in it and you need a lot of rice to cool it down though. Or you could make rice pudding which is pretty much just vanilla puddind with rice.
One of my favorite rice recipes is Pizza Rice Casserole.
Anyone who enjoys pizza and lasagna will like this Italian-style rice.
I always double this recipe, except for the onion, (not a big fan of the onion) and for the rice I use leftover rice so I know we never have 4 cups of rice on hand. So this recipe is very easy to tweak. I'm sure you can use different cheeses and spices. But I do reccomend keeping the cottage cheese. It gives it a unique taste.
PIZZA RICE CASSEROLE
3/4 pound ground beef
1 medium onion
2 cans (8 ounces each) tomato sauce
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. dried parsley flakes
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. oregano
Dash pepper
2 cups cooked rice (I use Success rice)
1/2 cup small-curd cottage cheese
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
--- In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add the tomato sauce, sugar, salt, parsley, garlic powder, oregano and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes. While the hamburger mixture is simmering, combine the rice and cottage cheese in a bowl; spoon half into a greased baking dish. Top with half of the meat mixture. Repeat layers. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 325' for 30-35 minutes or until heated through and bubbly. Yield: 4 servings
