How can I make canned Pinto Beans taste good?!
Answers: I am almost a retard at cooking can anyone help me?
ok tard~ jk!! put in a pot and put on low to medium heat, i always warm them over low, cuz the top layer if not under juice line, tend to dry out and pop open...anyway, depending on what brand they are, once they are starting to warm, just taste them.
i put grilled chopped onion, garlic, (sometimes bacon-cooked) salt & pepper...if you want, you can put some tomato sauce or even ketchup, even a can of either crushed or chopped tomatoes.
whatever you think would taste good, but just keep tasting until you figure it out!
have fun!
Add a can of corn, some salsa, little cheese on top, baby you got a dip goin.
add them to some mexican rice, you can buy a kit for under a dollar in the boxed rice aisle. drain some of the juice out of the can if the rice comes out "saucy."
try with tomoto sauce and put some garlic.... yum....
add cheese to them EVERYTHING tastes better with cheese!
throw them in a jar of salsa and instant fiber! or if you have tomatos/red onions on hand, it's an easy salsa as well.
you should and spice mixes get them at grocery stores a good kind is BAM and ms. vicks
add chilli sauce
I like them better when you add a little garlic powder and then but them in a bowl, cover it with saran wrap and cook it in the microwave. And clean up is easier b/c they don't burn to the dish like on the stove.
cook them with salt, pepper, onion salt, garlic salt and some kind of seasoned salt, top cooked beans with fresh chopped onions and serve with hot buttered cornbread.
have backed beans instead
Make sure you drain and rinse the beans, the juice makes the beans taste funny, add tomotoe sauce, crumbled cooked hamburger, chilli season and you have chili.
I like to add salsa and chedder cheese...mmmmm!
1] use decent quality - store brand or better
2] to one 16 ounce can, add:
one teaspoon onions
one half tsp. powdered garlic
a dash of chili powder
3] heat in microwave about three minutes, covered [ big mess otherwise ]
Serve with leftover meats, [ burgers, ham, etc. ] and rice;
or add a layer of jack or cheddar cheese and microwave about one minute, and serve with rice;
or layer in a tortilla/taco shell with whatever looks good.
Heat a heavy pan (cast iron works wonderfully for this) then add enough oil to lightly cover the bottom. Add a the beans to the pan. Mash with your masher or fork, and add salt and pepper (you could also add red pepper flakes, cumin or spice of your choice) to taste. Top with salsa.
first saute a couple pieces bacon and half an onion in butter, add to can beans along with half teaspoon garlic powder, chili powder and salt and pepper to taste, hear on low for 20 to 30 minutes. If you do not eat pork, add whatever meat of your choice or leave out the meat all together. Hope you like it.
Crockpot pinto beans
1 Ham bone; -or-
2 Ham hocks
2 pounds Dried pinto beans
1 Onion chopped
3 Cloves chopped garlic
Water to cover; plus approximately 1"
Bring to a rolling boil, turn off fire, let sit at least one hour. Transfer to crockpot. Add 2 cans Rotel tomatoes (or 1 can Rotel plus 1 small can whole tomatoes if you prefer less spicy). Cook on low until beans are soft and juice has thickened. I usually put on at night, and they are ready next day. For dinner serving, I put on in early morning. This bean can also be cooked on the top of the stove, watching carefully and adding boiling water as needed
Drain them of the nasty juice they are packed in and add them to taco meat.
Add lots of cumin and a little chilli powder.
Also consider adding sauteed onions, canned tomato or sauce. Serve with corn tortillas.
