how long have you had it, my little town would replace it, since moving to a city people are not so accommodating in retrospect. If it has only been a few days , I would try, if not I am not a fighter, so I would chock it to a loss. I wrap mine in paper towels to keep the moisture from the herbs
It's BASIL get over it.
And I doubt they'd take back moldy Basil.
take it back... this happen to me with bread & I took it back & I got a new one they refunded me & they also gave me two new loaves to me for free.
Next time you have fresh herbs wrap them in a damp paper towel and stick in the frig after bringing home and taking it out of the plastic you bought it in.

And, yes, they will take it back or exchange it.
Super market will take it back, you get a credit. Otherwise, compost.
Did you know you can freeze fresh herbs? I do and just take the amount you want and put it back in the freezer..

BTW, same with fresh ginger, peel it, put it in a bag and stick it in the freezer and take a piece out, grate the amount you want and stick it back...
throw it away and buy some more.
