it will speed up your grill time...add one can of coke and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon to the boil water...you will get fantastic flavor on the grill and to the table...sounds weird i know but it is great great great....

I think it gets a lot of fat out and makes them tender.
I always buy the country style pork ribs and boil them rapidly until they turn a brownish color. Instead of boiling them in water try boiling them in 2 liters of Coke. It just adds alittle sweet flavor. After the ribs turn brownish I take them out and smother them in some Sweet Baby Ray's and grill them for only 7-10 mins. Most of the cooking is done while they are boiling. They will be nice and tender. Enjoy!
For spare ribs if they are quite fat yes, it's a good idea, simmer for 20-30 minutes in water seasoned with onion, garlic, a little salt. Baby back ribs don't usually need this, but it will work.
i say not to boil, wash them off,rub them with smashed garlic on both sides, add Lawreys seasoned salt... cook them long and low,250* for 4 hrs. with tin foil over them. the last 4 mins, let them glaze under the broiler.
I do. 1/2 water, 1/2 beer with onion, et al. Makes them tasty and fall-off-the-bone when you take them off the grill.

The way my sister-in-law makes her ribs is:
First you grill your ribs half way. While the ribs is grilling, mix egg roll sweet and sour sauce with regular bar-b-que sauce together. Then when the ribs is half way done, you paint the ribs with the sauce on both sides. Let it grill, be careful not to burn it. And the rib should have this great sweet flavor. By the way, we have tried boiling the ribs first and then grill it, but found no difference.
YES! it makes them much more tender. You will love the way they taste when you go to BBQ them. Just put them in rolling, boiling water, (I don't season the water), for about 5-6 minutes. Since they are baby back ribs, they are going to cook fast. Then take them out and put them on your BBQ grill for a only few minutes, adding your favorite BBQ sauce, and grill just long enough to cook the BBQ sauce onto the ribs. My personal preference is that I like the BBQ sauce a little burnt on the ribs. If you leave the ribs on the grill for too long, they will overcook and the meat will be tough. Bon Appétit!
I don't agree with boiling ribs before cooking them. Everybody that I know just washes them really good, seasons them, lets them marinate and grills them for several hours on a smoker or bbq pit. I mean it takes time to get tender meat, but boiling it gives it a totally different flavor. I also hate baked bbq. Yuck!
I was in south carolina a while back and the chef at a bar b que restaraunt says he never puts his ribs in water he lets them marinade overnight in the fridge and they are mouth watering and great .
I do not. But I Barbeque not grill. I put mine in a smoker for about 6-8 hrs. The meat is too tough for grilling but if you must then yes you can boil them first 30 min. should be plenty.
