How to counteract extra sweetness in a brownie recipe?!

Question: I have some Dr. Pepper syrup that I'd like to use to make some brownies. Any idea on how I'd balance this in a recipe like this?
? 8- 1 ounce squares of unsweetened chocolate
? 1 cup butter
? 5 eggs
? 3 cups sugar
? 1 tablespoon vanilla
? 1-1/2 cups flour
? 1 teaspoon salt

I would take out an equal amount of sugar. so if you use 1/2c. syrup then use 21/2c. sugar. sounds like a good thing to try.. good luck
I always use nuts to cut the sweetness in brownies. Love the salty sweet combo. Dr. Pepper syrup? What a great marinade base for pork or chicken.
Well, the Dr. Pepper is going to add a lot of sugar, so I would cut back on the 3 cups of sugar. How much would depend on how much Dr. Pepper you are using.

I wouldn't worry a whole lot about your brownies turning out TOO sweet. Brownies are supposed to be sweet. :)
