Brining meats in soy sauce?!

Question: If you brine meat in a vat of pure soy sauce, will that give you the same effect as brining?

No, I am a former chef and all it will do is seep into the pours of the meat and discolour it for one thing and turn it very salty.

If you want to add soya sauce to a brine or marinate for coulour find, but pure soya sauce will turn the meat black and with all the sodium and MSG in it the meat will be very unpalatable.

I would use a bring with salt, sugar, psices and a bit of it for colour, for teriyaki chicken or beef I only marinate it for a few hours and then bake it, finishing it with some of the marinate taken before adding the meat, with some add sugar, hoey or molasses to glaze the meat either in the oven or on a BBQ.
