How to eliminate garlic smell from remaining on your hands?!

Question: Short of wearing gloves, are there any pre or post-treatments that will prevent my fingers from smelling garlicky after handling this pungent ingredient?

I've heard of two good ways. One, wash with salt. This works, I've tried it. Second is you can buy a steel "bar of soap". It's not really soap but rubbing your hands on metal can get rid of the smell.
Stop using garlic.
Wash your hands first then squeeze a little lemon or lime juice on them. It works for fish as well. Just make sure you don't have a cut, or it hurts like heck : )
To remove the garlic smell from your hands, simply rub your hands with a stainless steel spoon or other stainless steel utensil.

Don't have stainless steel utensils on hand? A little salt or baking soda rubbed on the hands should do the trick, also.
Hold a metal spoon in your hands while washing with soap and water..that should do it.
Rubbing stainless steel on your hands will remove the smell. Try the back of a knife blade, or any other stainless steel object you have handy.
rub your hands on stainless steel under cold water for about a minute. i don't know why it works, but it does!
use lemon juice
Try tomato juice
Lemon juice will do the job
A very simple and effective solution is to rub your hands with black pepper then rinse. You can do the same to your cutting board to get the garlic smell out of it. I was a sous chef for years and this works better than any other method.
rub your hands on stainless steel. Sounds crazy but it works and the staineless steel doesnt smell like garlic either!!
Pour salt on the palms of your hands and dampen with water scrub palms together and rinse. This will also remove fish smell from your hands.
The stainless steel thing works.
