All you need is cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, an egg or two and some sugar if you like, Mix these together and then add the slices of bread to the mixture then butter a pan and grill them until they are brown and fully cooked.

isnt hard. bust a couple of eggs in a dish. whisk until smooth. while the griddle is heating up, soak break in the eggs on both sides.
grill em up and slap on some maple syrup. bon' appetito

Whisk an egg and a tablespoon or so of milk. Add a few dashes of cinnamon and a little vanilla extract.

Beat together 2 eggs, a little milk, and I like to add a dash of vanilla and cinnamon, but you don't have to. Melt butter or heat a little oil in a frying pan. Dip each piece of toast on both sides until soaked. Put in the pan, cook until lightly browned on one side, then flip over. Serve with syrup, honey or jam.

Whisk one egg with about a quarter pint of milk, heat a frying pan with a little oil or butter in it and then dip your bread in the milk and egg mix long enough for it to soak some up without going soggy..a few seconds. Fry the bread gently on one side until golden brown then turn and repeat..if you have a little liquid left then you can spoon it onto the uncooked side before turning.
serve with a little salt or sugar, honey or syrup or whatever else you fancy.
As a variation, have some grated cheese on hand and when you are ready to turn the bread..a little sooner this time, just as the first side is "set", sprinkle the cheese one one slice and cover with the other, wet side in, continue to cook very gently until the sandwich is stuck together and deliciously gooey inside.

Take 2 eggs and beat them thoroughly and add just a little bit of milk.......heat up the griddle...I use Pam cooking spray on the griddle first (make sure it's hot)...... I like to use Challah bread.... slice it and dip it into the mixture of eggs & milk and then put on the hot griddle and cook until lightly toasted on both sides. Use white bread too..... but I once had the french toast Challah bread in a restaurant and fell in love with it!

beat one egg in a bowl with 1/4 Cup of milk.

heat butter (margarine) in a skillet.

soak each side of your bread in egg mixture.

put in the skillet, brown one side, turn and brown the other side.

do both slices, put on a plate and top with syrup.

My husband once made french toast and put thin sliced ham and a piece of cheese between two pieces of french toast, topped with syrup.

I didn't think it would taste good , but it did.

My hubby (1971 - 2000)

Only two slices, huh? ONE egg, splash of milk. Whip with fork. Heat skillet to medium high, and lay in some butter or olive oil. Soak the bread through, and drop it into the oil. IMMEDIATELY turn the heat down to low, and let the bread cool it a bit, now that the bottom is sealed. Flip, brown the other side, then put it on a plate. I don't like syrup, myself, just pure butter.

French toast is very easy. You just crack an egg, scramble it, then dip the slices of bread in it. Fry them in a frying pan, flipping to get both sides evenly browned to your desired darkification.

As you can see, different people like different crap to add to that, so it's up to you what flavour you want. I prefer it just plain though. The extra flavour comes with the maple syrup, and no, not Mrs. Buttersworth or Aunt Jamima or whoever. Real 100% maple syrup. Yum! You can be adventurous and heat the syrup too. A pat of butter before the syrup would be good. Let it melt over the eggy goodness.

Another variation of egg-and-bread is to cut a hole in a slice of bread with a glass. Eat the circle, then put the bread in a frying pan with a bit of butter, filling the hole with an egg. Let it cook a bit, flip it, then eat your egg and toast.

The best french toast I have made is with challah bread. I usually stuff it with jam but that is a different recipe. Ok here is what I do:

2 eggs
1/2 cup of milk
1/4 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp sugar
1/8 tsp cinnamon
pinch of nutmeg
Beat all the above together in a bowl.
Heat a tsp of unsalted butter in a nonstick pan, or griddle.over medium heat. Dip the 2 pieces of bread into the milk mixture, coating completely and place in the skillet. Cook until nicely browned. Flip and cook the other side. Add more butter if necessary. sprinkle with confectioners sugar and serve with syrup of your choice. Enjoy!

I cook French toast on my George Foreman grill. I don't use Pam or anything because I've usually just grilled some kind of meat. Make sure the grill is preheated so the eggs don't run off. And it works better with bread that is just starting to go stale (it holds together better with the egg coating).

It works great, even with cheap supermarket bread, but I like it even better now that I've got a bread machine. I don't season the eggs in advance because I want the toast sweet but the eggs not.

I usually top it with honey, sometimes with a little cinnamon, and if I'm in a reckless mood, occasionally a little butter. I'm thinking about trying it topped with a grilled banana.

easy .. cut bread in half diaganol

two eggs in bowl / 1 tsp of water / milk/ cream (all work) you are thinning egg only. function more than taste. mix this up till yellow and whites are one with a fork . thin in consistency

non stick pan . you need real butter. no margarine

medium heat / careful not to burn butter

dip your bread both sides in egg wash

add bread to hot buttered skillet

peak around corners after a couple minutes ... watch heat . you need cooking but not too hot / not too low

flip over when gold brown and you may need to add a little more butter . melts fast .

sprinkle a tiny bit of a powdered sugar if you have it on hand , serve with orange marmalade or strawberry jelly .

or if you like maple syrup , serve with real vermont maple syprup not imitation stuff . williams and somona sell a nice one . aunt jamina maple flavored is not as good.

LOL the only other short cut ... is buy frozen french toast. it's not too bad on a quick morning but homeade is best !

enjoy french toast ! it's so easy. i was intimidated by it for years .. was shocked to learn how simple / fast it is to make.

if you use small saute pan ... clean the butter between uses . butter is hard to work with / get used to for inexperienced cook
