1/8 th of a tsp, is about half of a 1/4 tsp. Happy cooking.
You have to buy measuring spoons that come with that size. Not all of them do. In many cases there isn't much of a difference if you use 1/4 tsp instead of 1/8th tsp.
stay in school and do the math. i think this is a homework question. I'm not helping.
Fill the 1/4 teaspoon half full. 1/8th is half of 1/4th.
1/8th is half of 1/4
I just use a 1/4 tsp, half full.
only use half of the 1/4 teaspoon
Just use about half of the 1/4th teaspoon, or a pinch.
dont stress. just fill your 1/4 tsp, dump onto the cutting board, take a knife and visually remove about half. Cooking is a science, but not always an exact science.
you can also weigh what you dump from the 1/4, then remove exactly have by scooping until the weight is halved.
you use the 1/4 tsp. then estimate the half...duh...
or you better buy a 1/8 tsp for a more accurate measurement...
Who measures? Just put in a pinch
You can do one of 2 things. Either fill the 1/4 teaspoon measure up about 1/2 way, or do what I do, and simply take a pinch of whatever ingredient you need an 1/8 tsp for. Literally, take your fingers, pinch whatever in between them, and that's going to be very close.
And the other person's right, it really won't matter if you use the 1/4 tsp measure either. The only time I seriously measure is when I'm baking, and it's stuff like flour, salt, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, yeast, etc. The rest of the stuff is flavoring.
Some of you people are so hateful, you should be ashamed. I've seen her before asking cooking questions in the past, I believe she is 10 or 11, this whole "duh' stuff is ridiculous.
Just use half of 1/4 hun, same thing.
What Gabound75 said is correct: it isn't an exact science. 1/8 of a teaspoon is such a tiny amount---in this case, I'm guessing it's the measurement for salt in whatever dish you're preparing.
In any case, a "large pinch" of the ingredient will work perfectly well. Just whatever you can grab between the tips of your thumb and first 2 fingers. The seasoning/flavoring of the dish will NOT be affected if you mis-measure by such a small amount.
Good luck!
Use half a 1/4 tsp or 2 pinches.
