Teflon skillet or black iron..?!

Question: I prefer cast iron, the teflon sooner or later scratches off.
It's also very toxic if teflon burns around birds, they can die.
my fav cast iron frypan is made in france with some kind of porcelain coating.

  • cast iron...with proper seasoning it's as nonstick as teflon

    Cast iron.

I have a teflon for certain things, but generally far prefer the cast iron.

    Depends on what you're cooking.

Iron all the way...I bought one of the Teflon skillets but it peels and sheds if you look at it wrong. A well seasoned, well tempered iron pan will last a life time! Or until your well meaning babysitter takes steel wool, detergent, and water to it, then leaves it to dry!!!

Teflon can cause you to have Teflon flu.iron skillet is the best check into Teflon it can cause flu like symptoms if heated to hot or such as burning it.

    I use both.

I prefer black cast iron for 98% of the time, but I don't like to add butter to the pan for eggs, so then I will use a non-stick pan (and that's the only time I will use it.)

Cast iron!....easy to clean (if seasoned properly)...all i do is wash with hot water (no soap) and air dry. long storage i usually smear a lite coating of cooking oil with a paper towel to preserve the dish for next use. don't need teflon!

If you need life at risk use Teflon (cancer??) Cast iron is tops.

It depends on whether you have a ceramic top stove, gas or conventional electric.

I use cast iron on my portable gas chef stoves--and some non stick calphalon but no cast iron on my pro ceramic top stove.

I like to pan sear in my cast iron and it can go right in the oven, too.

    CAST IRON!!!

    THE ORIGINAL NON-STICK COOKWARE!!!!!!!!!

    Doc

Cast iron 100%! I'm a retired chef and used to own all commercial quality cooking equipment in my kitchen including teflon. Teflon is poisnus, especially if heated to hot. Cast iron can auctlly be healthy for you to cook in by adding minute amounts of iron to your food. Food in cast iron also tasted so much better! I have several small cast iron "egg" pans I cook my eggs in and they cook better than the teflon pans and flip the eggs so much easier than the teflon pans. Now, all of my pots and pans are cast iron and i wouldn't trade it for anything else. I even have muffin tins, bundt pans, cake and bread loaf pans all made from cast iron.

I'm not sure about the former, but i prefer black iron.

i use both. teflon for eggs, though.
