Can I freeze a cake that has a frosting made with cream cheese?!

Question: As a pastry chef, I would not recommend this. Sure, it's edible, but it won't be as fresh and the texture will be a little different. Cake can freeze wonderfully, but frosting not quite as well. It can be done, but the cake would taste so much better if the frosting were freshly made. Just my opinion.

Yes you can!

yup I made a bunch of carrot cake with cream cheese icing for my hubby's b'day and we frozen half of it and just take it out to thaw when you want to eat it..Still tasted yummy..

Absolutely, although when you take it out of the freezer you should let it defrost first.

Sure! Put in freezer unwrapped until frozen, up to 12 hours and then tightly wrap and freeze up to 3 months. To thaw, unwrap and place in frig to slow thaw. (Cakes taste good frozen with ice cream!, or even just slightly thawed.) It will take about 24 hours to thaw the cake. Do NOT leave out of frig after freezing! Cake must be served cold.
