Question: I have a recipe that calls for capers. First, what are they? and second, where would I find them in the grocery store?


Answers: I have a recipe that calls for capers. First, what are they? and second, where would I find them in the grocery store?

They are very small olive like things that look like peas. In my grocery, they are in the same aisle as the olives and pickles.

They are little green veggies, they are very salty. I happen to find them delicious. You can find them in any supermarket.

Capers are actually buds plucked from a small bush native to the Middle East and Mediterranean regions of the world. Fresh caper blossoms are not especially flavorful, but their sharpness increases dramatically after sun-drying and brining in vinegar.

You can find them in amongst the pickles and whatnot at your grocery.

They look like peas, stored like olives, you can find it in the same sections as condiments, if not try the Goya section.
