I put some steak to defrost in water but it looks like its cooked can I still grill it or do I chuck it away?!
If you didn't thaw in a baggie, your steak will be pretty watter logged. Dry it as best you can with paper towels and grill.
Beef often loses its red color after storage and looks brown on the outside. It doesn't mean it's bad. The red comes from myoglobin interacting with oxygen, but that red effect eventually fades.
Answers: To defrost in water, put the meat in a sealed ziplock, remove as much air as possible, fill a large bowl or pot with running cool water and immerse the bag (weigh it down with something if necessary). Leaving the water running even at a trickle thaws much faster because of convection (water is moving).

Dry it out on some kitchen roll or a clean tea towel. However, there will be some water in it still so best to grill it rather than fry. Add a bit of butter to it just before the end of cooking. Also grill it on a low heat to let some of the water eveporate slowly-
then you could finish it off in the pan with some butter/oil onions or a few mushrooms. Better to cook it medium to well done to avoid any bacteria etc.
If you ran it under hot water, you cooked it. If it was cool water, the meat absorbed the water. If that's the case, yes you can still grill it but do it under a low flame to evaporate all that water. best thing to do next time is wrap the meat tightly in plastic or use a ziplock bag to make it airtight, then run cool water on it. some micro-waves do a nice job of defrosting without cooking. when you do this, watch it closely and do it in small increments and turn with each defrost attempt.
Next time, put your steak in a large ziplock with soy sauce etc for a marinade. Let it thaw in fridge and voila- steak that won't kill u:)
you drained the blood out of the meat. Sprinkle with some meat tenderizer and fast grill it on med high heat so the meat won't dry out. You could also marinate it in some teriyaki sauce to give it some moisture and flavor
Get it under the grill with onions and tomatoes, a few chips and I`ll be round soon, with a nice bottle of wine.
Please for your tummy's sake
THROW IT AWAY.
